Backup CIFS data with BackupExec 12.5d from NetApp (or Buffalo NAS)

I cannot successfully backup any CIFS data with my BackupExec 12.5d.

I created a user-configured share. I put in the address of the filer. I checked "enable selection of user shares." I don't have NDMP turned on the filer. When I select the the share in my backup selection list it expands I can select individual folders. However, when I do a backup it says it can't find a remote agent.

I know many have gotten this working. What haven't I tried? Is there a patch for 12.5d I need?

You may have tried the NDMP agent previously as a trial. I have seen that once NDMP agent is installed regular windows based back up of shares doesn't work correctly.  I was able to uinstall the NDMP agent, reboot media server and give it a go.  Delete any NDMP Servers that you may have created.

I never installed NDMP on the server, so that's not it. Any thing else to try?
Does it give you an error but still backs up or does it fail the job without doing backup at all
It fails the job without doing the backup.
Try using IP address of Netapp vs hostname.  Also ensure that you are using the correct credentials on the job
Authentication failed on connection to server. :(
