"When I restart the server it uses a generic profile."

Profile was probably corrupted in the shutdown. If it created a profile named Docs and Settings\UserID.DOMAIN, reboot the machine, and rename them both to ""-old. That way you can log back in, and it will build the profile under the proper name. Then just move the files over as needed. Shouldnt be too much under the user profile, being as this is a server....

John6767 you stated;
Docs and Settings\UserID.DOMAIN rename them both....

I am logged in as Administrator, I searched for NtUser.dat and found 2 current ones;
the NtUser.dat that in in e C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\ is 3840 kb,
dated today at 6:14PM
 I see the same file in the  C:\Documents and Settings\Temp @ 6:33 Pm 512 KB

But nothing administrator.domain, So do I rename the the 2 above files?

Thank you for your quick response!

Johnb6767,
I can rename the Administrator, but now I have an Administrator.Domain that I can not rename even though I am and no one else is logged in.
I am Logged in with a full admin user of a different name.
any ideas?
Thank you mdlp

Profile must be locked. Reboot and retry? Leave it at a network logon prompt (no console logon), and rename it across the network if you can....

I can not access the  network from any of the the workstations, I can ping the server but if I try to \\domain, \\domain\share or \\ip address it reports "the network path was not found".

I am sorry that I have restarted; it is the same, no deletion, and as stated before I can not contact the server from ant work station.

Think you have some deeper issues.....

Did you get into the normal profile? under Administrator? And just cant delete the Administartor.domain?

Yes, John the deeper issue is called Symantec anti virus, on some servers we have, the network threat protection causes havoc, and this is one of them, that is what caused the no connection issue.  So I suppose at the user name change and the re-start, it re-enabled itself Arrrrrg.

Yes as for the  administrator.domain will not delete but this server is slated to be changed out and it seems that now everything is working even with that user. I will try to go to safe mode and delete or the repair console if need be, but hopefully this will expedite the new server and we will not have to deal with it.  So if I could,  I would give more than the 500 point, because  you deserve it!

Thanks. As long as you arent in a TEMP profile, thats all that matters. I just dont like the aesthetics of the .domain suffix. Personal preference really, and occassionally improperly written scripts could fail.....

Glad youre fixed for now though.....
