I am migrating my SharePoint server to a hosted provider. They require me to backup my website and to then upload the backup file via FTP. I am using STSADM to complete this backup.<br />

My problem is when I go Storage space allocation i've only used 8GB, but when I do the backup the size is 15GB.<br />

Commands I am doing -<br />

stsadm -o backup -url <a href="http://urlname" rel="ugc">http://urlname</a>&nbsp;-filename &lt;filename&gt;<br />
<br />
Usually I would not be concerned about the size, but as I need to upload via my ADSL line I would rather it reflect the true size of my site.<br />

Am I doing something wrong?
