Why can you not reformat? You have to reformat to install Windows XP.

You should be able to go through the install steps you can then delete the current partitions then recreate the partition then format

You don't need to remove Windows 2000 and you don't need to reformat if you have a Windows XP Upgrade or Full Retail disk.  If you have a Windows XP OEM disk, it will insist on formatting the drive because it is for New computers, not upgrades.
