Hi Experts,

I've been tasked with putting together a couple of I.T site manuals for a few of our smaller customers as we've outsourced of some DESKTOP SUPPORT we provide to them to a 3rd party, are there any good templates around I good use as a good starting point to setup these manuals? What type of information would you think would suffice in them.

Thanks

If i understand you correctly you supplied the support initially and now they have gone elsewhere but you have an obligation to supply this company and the third party the info they need to continue to support? If so

1.server install steps
2. Desktop image creation steps
3. Network configuration
You should have documented these on install, also it may be worth speaking to the site IT guys find out specifically what they want /require or you may waste time doing unneccassry docs.

Yes that is correct, they will primarily be handling the DESKTOP SUPPORT only for them, they will not be required to do anything at or on a server level, we will still be doing this,
I think you are correct with getting them to specify what information they actually require...
It may also be looking back through the Helpdesk logs to see what common desktop problems they have logged and documenting the fixes for these as your start point.

Network settings like dhcp ranges and pertinent server ips, mail server addresses and ports, ldap settings, etc...
Just ask yOurself what you need to know when setting up a new desktop.
Backup software, admin user, application packages, licences, shared drives...

Not sure if its allowed to mention other websites on here but techrepublic.com have a pro section with a downloads section that cover just about every template you could ever need.
