Cannot log into Server 2003 after ad demotion

Hi there,

I have just done a dcpromo to remove active directory from one of my file servers. No I cannot login. The server has rebooted and I am on the login sceen.

I have username as administrator, I enter in are normal password and domain is listed correctly.

I am not sure what happening.

Please, please someone help.. This is a live filer server and now no one can access anything.

Do you know what the local administrator password is? It should have asked you to reset it when you did the dcpromo to remove AD. You should still be able to login to the system using that. Then its just a case of making sure the server is part of the AD, that the main AD server is available and that permissions are set OK to the file system/shares

try the username and password which u u sed while u uninstalling active directory....

check the caps - and check if it's multilanguage pack installed then use Alt+Shift key to change the language



try login by computername\administrator   and the paword....

Hi everyone,

I will try all your suggestions within the next few hours.

I have dcpromo before many times and have never had this problem. I did set a password during dcpromo, which was the same as the current administrator password. That does not work.

I tried computer name/administrator and the password and that did not work either.

It is very wired. I will try your suggestions and report back with the next few hours with screenshot of error.
