Trying to make mandatory profile but I can't find ntuser.dat only ntuser.dat.LOG

Hi,

I have copied a users profile in vista with the copy to command found by going to Computer -> right click properties -> Advanced System Settings -> user profile -> settings -> copy to.

This seems to be successful because when a user logs into their profile it is now roaming. Now I want to make a mandatory roaming profile so I should simply change ntuser.dat to ntuser.man. The problem is I cannot find ntuser.dat, only ntuser.dat.LOG and ntuser.ini.

Why do I not have any ntuser.dat files? I have also done a search and only ntuser.dat.LOG and ntuser.ini are found.

Thanks,
waffe

Maybe the file didn't get copied. Ask the user to login and logoff. This should create one.

You can refer to the following MS KB:
How to customize the default local user profile when you prepare an image of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

From the KB article:
Click the View tab, click to select the Show hidden files and folders check box, click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, click to clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, click Yes to dismiss the warning, and then click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog box.
