Hi folks,

I am just curious, is it possible to resize a linux partition with out loosing the data on it?

Yes it is possible, could you post output of below given command.

#df -th

And also tell us which partition you want to resize.

It's easy to resize a Linux partition, epically a virtual Linux without loosing data.

Yes, however, highly recommend that you do the backup before you resize it.
