Partition level backup of a Windows 2000 and 2003 server

I need a very cheap solution for backing up a Windows 2000 and 2003 server partitions without having to reboot the server < £50.. also a boot receory CD would be good..

Checkout runtime's DriveImageXML, it should do fine:

http://runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm

There is also a possibility to use it from a WinPE boot CD (explained in the Link too), or you can make yourself a UBCD4WIN which should also have the tool included:

http://ubcd4win.com

You probably won't be able to get this or other tools to run from a Windows 2000 box while the OS is up, as that OS didn't yet have Shadowcopy available. So for that OS you will always have to do a partition backup from the CD.
