Problem opening 2010 files in 2007

When opening a word document from Office 2010 in Office 2007, I get the following error. I have copied and pasted the document into a new 2010 document also to ensure there is no corruption.

The document opens OK in Word 2010. I had to save it as a "web page, full" file in the end.

How can I prevent this error in the future?

There will always be some compatibility issues between versions of Office so you can't guarantee prevention of that kind of error. If you found a workaround, then I would say to take note of what you did so you can do it again.

It's possible that there are ways to aviod the specific issue you got with that file. If you could post the file or at least the details of the error and a description of what kind of information was in the file, we might be able to help. Otherwise, anything we suggest would just be shots in the dark.

This particular error comes up with "No Error Detail Available", which is of course... no use at all.

The document does have a lot of chart data in it. I guess it's compatibility with excel charts?

Yeah, the error messages often don't help a bit.
The format of charts did change somewhat so that certainly could be the culprit.

Also, sometimes workbooks just get corrupted and there's nothing you can do about it except to create a new workbook and copy all the data into it.
