This exchange server will serve nearly 200 email clients.

My question are:

We have a server runs only MSSql 2005
2.another options or ideas?

don't install Exchange with SQL server, this will bring the server to its knees, the best option is to use virtual machine and install hyper-v and host those servers on 2 VMs

no Exchange doesn't use any SQL database, it uses its own ESE engine.
