I am trying to create a few templates for our Windows 7 machines.  All of our Domain Controllers are Server 2008 Standard.  They are not R2.  Is there a way to import the needed templates into 2008 so that I can edit them from the Group Policy Management console?  I'm specifically trying to do this one.

Yeah. It's actually pretty easy to do. You'll want to create a policy file repository on your Domain Controllers. Go to your PDC Emulator and open C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain\Policies and add a folder called PolicyDefinitions. Take all the files in C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions on the Windows 2008 server and copy them to that folder. Do the same with the files in that location for the Windows 7 computer (Accept all overwrite attempts). Force replication on your Domain Controllers if you have more than one. Once that's done, the policies for Windows 7 will show up in the group policy editor.
