Project Management for small IT team

I have a staff of six with each team member managing 5-10 projects at a time.  I'm looking for an easy way to organize everyone's project updates for my review on a weekly basis.  Currently, we are using and Excel spreadsheet and some of us are experiementing with Microsoft Project.  I like to have a webpage where everyone can upload their status.  I need to report progress updates late in the evening usually after half the team has left.  I see several project options but, the ones I'm leaning towards are around $25 per month per person.  I was looking for a more cost effective approach.  Can anyone recommend software/ online service where my staff can publish their updates and in turn, I can share to status with my boss by giving a web link?
