cannot install sql management studio 2008 R2
hi, i am trying to install the sql management studio 2008 R2 on a windows 2003 server sp2
I started install SQL remotely and got cut off, so my TS session ended, when i now run the setup, i get the following issues.
when i click new install or add features, it does the support files section, then i click install and i get
method not found 'boolean
microsoft.sqlserver.config uration.Ms iExtension .MsiExtens ionMetadat a.get_IsSl ipstramorp atch()'..
and so doesn't install
I already have an SQL database running on the system (2008 R2), which i have no management console for. So don't want to do any thing that could trash the database.
One of our issues is we can't backup the data base at the moment.

If you are trying to install it from cd or dvd then i recommend first copy the setup to local drive on server then try installing from there. sometimes install files are not readable from cd and dvd drive.

i have tried installing it on our sbs server, but it doesn't recommend it. should it work ok.
if not, i'll stick it on a work station in the morning,
i have downloaded from the web as one exe file.

When restarting your installation, make sure you clean first the temp directory from the previous failed/incomplete installation...
Though I would never recommend to install MSSQL Tools on a production server.
