Have you checked that memory corruption is NOT the issue?

I am sorry i am new to the MS world. The server is managed by a different team. What should they look at? this is a brand new server
As it is a brand new server it is possible that the memory that the server came with or was added is faulty.

On the other hand, the error message could be a 'red herring'.  Can you find out if WSS and SharePoint was fully patched (service packs and cumulative updates) after installation?

The servers hardware is managed by other team
Updates for Windows SharePoint Services and Office SharePoint Server 2007 are not distributed by Microsoft Update.  You have to seek out and install the updates manually.

First you should install the latest service packs - service pack 2 for WSS and service pack 2 for MOSS.  Then you should install the latest Cumulative Update (CU) package for WSS and for MOSS.  The latest CU is April 2011.

You will find the links to these downloads, and instructions for how to install them at:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sharepointserver/bb735839

Many, many things have been fixed since the initial release of WSS 3.0 and SharePoint 2007, and by installing the service packs and CUs your problem may just go away.  That is the same advice you'd get if you rang Microsoft for support...
so your error went away after installing the service packs?
