I am sorry i am new to the MS world. The server is managed by a different team. What should they look at? this is a brand new server
As it is a brand new server it is possible that the memory that the server came with or was added is faulty.
On the other hand, the error message could be a 'red herring'. Can you find out if WSS and SharePoint was fully patched (service packs and cumulative updates) after installation?
