For University use, only a few can be adapted to charging, web based printing, departmental and pull printing with release at copiers.

The one I know is Pcounter - used worldwide and is device independent so supports nearly every printer, and pull printing on most copier manufacturers.

For students, there are kiosks, web based payments or multiple methods for increasing credit.
For staff there is a free popup to enable departmental accounting, or it can use an automatic charge code.

Both can then use secure release via the copier screen or external terminal - with card support which can use exiting cards.

Reporting is simple, and web based reporting allows ease of access.

Finally, a common problem is the increase in users own laptops, smart phones and netbooks being used by staff and students. One option within Pcounter is to enable web or email  based submission which does not require the device to be on the domain..

FYI the other main software solution is Equitrac, never used so can't comment.

how about PaperCut, any idea about that?
Pcounter is it free software?
They do a free version i think, but it's log only and no options. Their chargeable version does not have the multiple options to let you that Pcounter offers from what I understand.

Pcounter is chargeable, but widely used and well supported.
