Hi
I have 4 disks previous setup with a Linux soft-raid. Not sure what kind of raid.
I would like to reuse these disks in a new Linux soft-raid 5.

During installation the partitioning program stops with the following information:
Error: ddf1: Cannot find physical drive description on /dev/sdx

I do not have access to the original setup computer.

I have deleted all partitions and --zero-superblocks but there are still some information left on the disks.

How do i get rid of these leftover setup informations?

Any information is wellcome

Boot to the UBCD and run the HD manufacturer's diagnostic utility on each disk. Use it to do a Low-Level format or whatever it's called in that particular tool.

for i in w x y z
do
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sd$i  bs=1024k count=32 &
done

Assuming /dev/sdw /dev/sdx /dev/sdy /dev/sdz  (change drive letters)
this will get all 4 disks zapped in about 10 seconds total
