Can also be related to VSS services (snapshot/backup) which could also relate to an SP install setting a snapshot/recovery point. &nbsp;On the other hand, SP1 creates a ton of HD activity so that is also a likely time for an HD failure to show. &nbsp;Normaly an HD failure has other errors in the system log though. &nbsp;Some of the new SSD HDs have been coming up with odd failure errors. &nbsp;You should run Windows CHKDSK or even better hardware diags if your system has that option. &nbsp;Next check your VSS service and try setting it to Auto temporarily if it isn't already there.

I get event id 515 Cannot query the Volume ID for \Device\Harddisk0\DR0. The data is the error.<br />
Does this mean the hard disk is on its way out? I notice when I try and install sp1 on the windows pro laptop it gets about half way but never finishes to maybe faulty disk?
