Spooler Service Not Starting

WinXP SP3 all patches installed.

I removed a Virus From a computer and Now I get the following message and cannot print:

Faulting application spoolsv.exe, version 5.1.2600.6024, faulting module
unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0290ad9b.

How would I reinstall the Print Spooler Service?

Run system file checker:   SFC /Scannow  from the run box  *you might need your XP CD handy

I would use this as a reference, to strip out the drivers, cleanup the registry/filesystem (related to the spooler), and reinstall with fresh drivers.

Either that, or the system is not fully cleaned. Maybe a startup item interfering on bootup?

You can use msconfig to perfrom a clean boot, and narrow down with a aprocess of elimination if needed, if it works under a clean boot...
