after how you can test it ?

You can test your DNS by typing nslookup and search for one of the machines on the network.
if it finds then all is working, also your should be able to get ip addresses from DNS.

You would install the OS within a VM then run dcpromo to add the DC to the domain as a domain controller

Is your current box a 2008 server?

Then you would install Windows 2008 Server in VM then run dcpromo to promote the server

You would then make DC a GC if not already.

Run dcdiag to check for any errors

Move FSMO roles

Change DHCP to point to this server for DNS.
