How to connect my new microphone and my 5.1 soundsystem?

Hello,

I'm buying a new headset to have a nice sound and a good microphone for online gaming. I previously had a cheap headset and didn't use the headphones part. I simply activated the microphone on my onboard audio card and used it this way. I also have a creative XI-FI card on which I plugged a 5.1 soundsystem.

Now, I'd like to use my XI-FI card to plug in my new headset because I'm choosing a very good one, and I'd like to enjoy it. I've been looking online and it seems that my best option is to use a splitter. But I remember using those like 15 years ago and I had a big drop in volume on my portable device (a minidisc if I remember right).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was looking for a solution before I get the headset in fact, it's been ordered and I'm waiting for it. I'll do taht, it's true that 10$ is not so much so I 'll try it. My main problem would be a drop in volume for my 5.1 system, since it would mean the front speakers may become more quiet then the back speaker. I'll try and see how it works.

Well you were right, I finally got my headset and used the splitter with it and it works perfectly. Thanks for the answer, I guess I didn't really need to ask the question ^^

A miscellany is defined as a "collection of various pieces of writing by different authors", but it has come to mean something "Of items gathered or considered together of various types or from different sources" or "a collection or group composed of members or elements of different kinds". The word "miscellaneous" comes from the Latin word "miscere", meaning "to mix." You might have heard the expression "a mixed bag," which applies when you don't quite know what you're going to get. More commonly, a miscellaneous group is made up of an odd group of things that don't fit anywhere else.
