asked on

email scheduled tasks's completion status

I am not a VB scripter or anything like that, but can write a basic batch file.  What is the best method to email me the status of a scheduled tasks completion?  Server 2003 or 2008.
Blat?

I have a two scheduled tasks.  One that runs a batch file to locally copy the sharepoint site and configuration, the other to copy that "copy" up to the NAS. I need to know if both were successful or not.

Server 2008 Scheduled Task or Server 2003 - I could use BLAT I suppose, but was looking for an easier solution.

what can be easier than blat?

any other solution will require setting up a commercial replacement for the scheduler, or a monitoring software agent. These are not bad, but certainly are not easier and probably not cheaper.

I agree with other experts, what is easier than blat? I like to use robocopy with the /log:logfilename.log option and then use blat to email the log as the body of the message.
