Hello,

I need to develop an Ipad database application. I am looking for development options (languages / frameworks / tools). I have found information about XCode, but I wander if this is the only option.

Following are the details of my use case:

- I need to interact with a MySql database in the local network
- I need control over the UI design being able to define size and position of the controls
- I need one of the following: either invoke a Java API (provided in a jar file) or invoke web services (SOAP or REST)

Thanks

John

As far as I know that only way I know is Objective-C with the UIKit iOS SDK and Xcode - which means a Mac computer.

I have some some drivers for iOS to interact directly with databases, but really the best way that is natively supported is to create a webservice layer between iOS and your mySQL database.

the iOS with its UIView will allow you size and position your controls as you want.

Your webservice such as windows' WCF service can feed your app XML or JSON.
