Hello,

I would like to know what´s the real meaning of the expresion tier-1 when sizeing an exchange 2010 enviroment with the Exchange 2010 Mailbox Server Role Requirements Calculator.

I plan to migrate to 2010 and I have 4000 mailbox already.
I am using the Exchange 2010 Mailbox Server Role Requirements Calculator and I have 4 field of tier´s to fill but I do not understand what does it mean.
I have to fill one tier 1 with 4000 or two with 2000.. I really do not understand.

Any Help???

Thanks a lot
Martin

if it makes it any easier, just think of tier-1/tier-2 etc as group-1/group-2 etc (not so much importance or size as sometimes the term "tier" may be referred to)
so, if you have 4000 mailboxes and but different mailbox user groups, the total of the tiers/gourps should still equal 4000

you may have different mailbox user groups in the simple example scenario described below...
-your organisation has 4000 mailboxes
-tier1 is for marketing which is 250 mailboxes, they send alot of messages and have an higher average message size then regular user
-tier2 is for regular users which is 3750 mailboxes, they send regular size mails
