SPD workflow to update item in another list completes but does not update

Hi, Experts.  I have 2 lists - one is for Headings, the other for Items. Items has a lookup to the title in Headings. Both lists have a column for Heading Order, which is a number and a column for Time (text)

Whenever the Heading Order or Time column is changed in Headings list, I need the change to be passed to the corresponding column in Items list.

My workflow says it is Completed, but no value is being passed.  What am I doing wrong?

Does your workflow involve any boolean values?

No, it's simply when item in list a changes, update matching column in list b.

Can you please share your workflow specifics?

Hmmm..still getting an error.   List item not found is what is logged.

Let me clarify what I'm trying to do:

Headings are created and given an order (number) that controls the sorting in a dataview.

Each item that is created in the Items list has to be related to a Heading, so that's a lookup field in Items.

Normally, the Heading is created first, then Items added later.  Whenever an Item is created, we need to grab the order of the chosen Heading and pop it into an order field in Items.  The only reason I need to do that is that my first approach (a joined subview) will not sort, which apparently is the norm.

The end user is forever changing the Heading order, so the change needs to be reflected in the Items list.  Time has been eliminated in the Items list, as it will only refer to the Headings, as it turns out.

I think this one is a puzzle, all right!

Thanks so much...

I decided to complete delete both lists and start from scratch, then tried the Update List Item workflow again. Voila!! It works.

Thank you so much for your help!
