Xp only, no mac OS, on mac book air 1st Generation

Hello all,

I got a .tib (acronis image) from a PC XP pro computer.

I want to use this image on my mac book air, so as the mac book air is like my old computer.

Can I format the drive from MAc OS X CD and then use some sort of process to copy the .tib and make it work on mac ?

No installation of Xp, just 'copy' it and run it.

I got a XP professional license and install CD here in case it is needed.

Many thanks for your thoughts,
Adam

Hey Rindi,

Yes, it boots on a standard PC, it is a CD, and I got an external CD/DVD Drive for the MAc book air.

Thanks

Hello Rindi,

Ok, I am downloading now UBCD4win, H

owever, the mac blinks with a question mark.

I also tried this solution :

http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Triple_Boot_Mac_OS,_XP,_and_Linux_on_a_Mac

Works fine until it comes to restore XP to the drive, it then crashes...nearly there tough, will be trying your solution when finished downloading.

Thanks !

Hi Informer, Rindi,

Ok, I gave up thinking that XP on the macbook air would work.

So, I installed MAc Os Snow leopard, created an acronis image from PC, converted to winclone image, then restored the image to bootcamp.

Then I installed bootpicker for dual booting, all went well. Opened system panel, went to bootpicker and added XP operating system as bootcamp drive, all fine

Then I restarted, choosed XP to start :

Black screen with 'Missing operating system' appeared.

I thought this would be the boot.ini file from restored image, tried to define what drive was used for bootcamp, it is Disk0s3, and it seems fine in the boot.ini file.

Quite puzzeld now.

Any thoughts ?

Many thanks
Adam.

Hey every techie,

Right, that's it. Installed MAc OS 10.5, restored windows to bootcamp. All fine.

Did set the MBR to Disk0, flag 3 too.

All fine. Startup disks shows XP partition. All fine.

Then reboot XP, with fingers crossed.

XP starts...and stays on a Black screen with a blinking cursor, that's it. Nothing else. Can't access anything (F8, F2 etc)

I searched everywhere for this blinking cursor error, no solutions to that problem.

If any of you have got a bright idea for me, I'll take it, I'm deperate.

Thanks to you all.
