problem starting windows defender

I am having a problem starting windows defender . The computer is windows vista. Please look at the screen shot i have attached with the exact error code.

check windows defender service is running.

I tried to start it and it just said the server started and stopped again on the local computer. some services start automatically when they are needed.

Open command prompt then type chkdsk /f
You may have to reboot for this to happen if so select yes.
