How to enable external access to Internet Printing in SBS 2008
I have installed the IPP role for a SBS2008 server. The site is available at http://192.168.16.2/printers but I cannot access it via http(s)://externaladdress/ printers. How should I configure IIS to allow external access to this site?

I had seen the previously answered question. I have tried creating a printers virtual directory under SBS Web Applications, but this doesn't seem to make the site available at remote.domain.com/printers .

It is available via http://internalipaddress/printers.
Can you take a look at the message titled "How to Configuring IPP on Windows Server 2008" here:

It's a fairly good outline of what needs to be done for IPP to work properly on SBS 2008. Go through each step and be sure you have things set right.

It seems we can access the site using http(s)://externaladdress/ printers/i pp_0001.as p
This is set as the default page for the virtual directory in IIS but for some reason we get 403 - Forbidden when just using /printers
This allows us to browse the printers but we are still unable to connect to them.
On Win7 we get "The printer name is invalid", on XP its "Access is denied"
It looks a lot like its some kind of permissions issue...
