Event ID 10052 WSUS gives error in event log about sending e-mail
I am getting an error in my application event log that Windows Server Update Services (the source) gives the error message "The server is unable to send e-mails notifications."

The WSUS server has been in service for 2 years, and most recently restarted over the weekend. It uses Version: 3.2.7600.22. The server was recently added to my duties and I am not familiar with what it should be configured as. The SMTP server was configured as a external mail sever. I tried changing it to our local Exchange server which has a SMTP connecter as I am told. After further investigation, I found out the user was a disabled user which may have been causing the issue and I can change most of the information to mine, but it will not let me change the password it uses.
Does the test email work?

I don't even use authentication on my exchange server for internet network addresses.

The test fails. I can not change the password for the default account and the account that was there was there was no longer valid and no one knew what the password was. With the password field greyed out, it becomes a little difficult to change the passoword.
