changing dns server ip

DNS

I have a somewhat stupid question but I always seem to have hard time understanding how dns works

I have a windows server with dns set up for some  websites. this server address is lets say 1.1.1.100
Since I changed internet company I have to change its address to 2.2.2.100
Do I need to just change the address in dns properties and the ip address of the machine? will the parent dns's then discover the change of ip and update themselves automatically?

I also wanted to move the current dns server to a centos virtual machine with bind9
can I put the server in dmz and use a virtual ip in the firewall config using 2.2.2.100 pointing to the server ip address?

sorry for the intricate explanation but I really make confusion about this stuff
