Mesh Network- what does it mean

I am going to be working for company that is involved with an acquisition with another company.  In the end they want to create what they called a 'mesh network' between the two companies which each have several satellite offices in adjacent states.

Can someone give me a high level idea of what a mesh network is and what it will mean to me, an end user?

Thanks

A mesh network will involve all sites and head offices being connected together. This will most likely be via VPN. This means that someone in branch office for one company can have the ability to access resources in a branch office for the other comapny. All offices linked together in a mesh. As apposed to a hub and spoke which would mean the head office having the branch offices only linked to the head office and not each other.
