I see a lot of SBS clients are running NTbackup selecting MDBDATA and Exchange Storage Group for backups. Does it seem to be redundant and doubles the space?
I wonder there is a VSS in a failed state on the server. Does it play a role in that backup? Should I repair VSS first before deselecting MDBDATA backup?
VSS writer - Microsoft Exchange Writer Failed or Waiting for completion
Cause: The VSS writer for Exchange Server enables applications to back up and restore Exchange storage groups that are stored on hardware that supports the VSS.
I know the fis should be to apply updates and hotfixes. I was just curious if I should do that first before deselecting MDBDATA from backups.
