Aborting Apples Migration Assistant

Does anyone know if there is a correct / graceful way to abort Apples Migration Assistant?  I started migrating 300GB over wifi (bad, bad, bad, terrible idea) and now want to cancel it without just pulling the plug.

I cant see a cancel button though, just the Migration Assistant progress bar which if left will take a few lifetimes to complete.

Thanks :)

You can perform a Force Quit, but that is forcing the program to shut down.

To Force Quit:
1. Click on the Apple Icon in the left corner
2. Select Force Quit
3. Choose the program to quit.

Good Luck!

If you just plug in an ethernet cable, the connection will likely switch over automatically to ethernet and complete the migration more swiftly. Worth a try anyway.

Thanks for taking the time to comment guys - unfortunately there is no Apple in the top left hand corner & ctrl / apple / delete does do anything when used during the migration assistant.

Connecting to ethernet also seemed ignored by the application.

Any other ideas welcomed, thanks again.

Is this a brand new computer that you have just started for the first time and are trying to migrate data from an old computer?

Do you have install disks for the new computer?

This was the only solution that worked for me.

Apple OS

Apple's early computers ran on a variety of operating systems, including a Pascal version and one based on CP/M, before releasing its ProDOS with the advent of its 16-bit computer. With the release of the Lisa, which had its own OS, Apple and computing entered the graphical age; it was followed by the Macintosh, which offered a series of "System" operating systems. Other Mac operating systems included PowerPC until Apple acquired NeXT and folded it into the Mac OS. Current operating systems for Apple devices are Mac OS-X and iOS.
