That's normal?  You want to modify the share/NTFS permissions.  The read-only attribute has no effect on folders.
johnb6767

Any more questions about it?

Both answers are 100% accurate. The RO attribute on folders has no effect on a folder, just containing files....

If thers a problem accessing the files, it is either an NTFS Permissions/Share Permissions problem....

Thats all there is to it....

If you look at a folder on Windows 7 even, it tells you (only applies to files)

This just happened again to the same user. I have confirmed that they have FULL CONTROL of the file they are trying to edit.. PDF file within a network folder that only they have access to. Keep getting the message saying no permissions or another person has the file opened.  I have also attached the OPEN MODE listing from Windows 2003 server using computer management:

 OPen file MODE

Just for the sake of clarity: you should accept john's answer regarding read-only folders and then open a new question regarding not being able to open a PDF file.  I don't see what the one issue has to do with the other.
