How do we import Exchange info into new environment?

We want to build a new Exchange Server and migrate all the info from the old exchange server into it.  The issue is the e-mail name will be different, for example instead of email being @abc.com it will be @123.com
Are their any specials steps needed to be done?  Or doesnt this name change matter?

Will this server be in the same forest/domain? What is the current and new version of Exchange? For a new Email domain you can add that to the existing server, is that an option?

What version of Exchange are you working with?  The e-mail name can easily be set for the accounts by use of the recipient policy but it's in different places depending on which version your using.  Your other issue is going to be getting the mail out of existing mailboxes.  If your using Exchange 2003 you can use EXMERGE.EXE to export all the mailboxes and then import that data into the new Exchange server when you have it built.

The current and new version of Exchange will be 2007. This will be in the same domain.  We are actually looking to retire the old e-mail domain.

Is there a reason for a new server, version upgrade, OS upgrade?  if not you can create another Email domain within Exchange and leave all of your user accounts available.
