do you need to copy a slide background or a slide color scheme? you've mentioned both.
If you go right click > format background you can choose to apply to all.

Apologies for my mis-statement.
Here's what I need done:
I have a multiple color gradient in the background of slide 3. spent a long time putting this together. I want to use this same background on other slides in the current PPT file AND ALSO in other PPT files.
