Configuring Sharing QB 2011 on Windows Vista Home
I am trying to configure sharing a QB 2011 Company file on a Windows Vista Home machine. The machine trying to access the file is a Windows XP Pro. We keep getting a H505 error on the XP machine saying

"You're trying to work with a company file located on another computer, and that computer needs additional installation and setup. (H101, H303 and H505)"

We cannot figure out why.

Firewalls are off, for testing purposes of course.
Permissions have been given to the connecting machines user acct for all permissions.
The user account exists on the host machine with the same name and password.
The database service has been stopped and started several times.
The diagnostic tool has been run and does not help...

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Just a note, the Vista machine got a clean install of QB 2011 while the XP machine upgraded from the previous 2008 version.

ASKER

turns out the machine we wanted to host was set to host AND the machine we wanted to access the host, was set to host. The user on the non-host hit the button that sets your local machine to the host and screwed it all up.

Thanks for the help.
