Windows XP SP3 - rundll32.exe unable to locate components
I am using a Windows XP SP3 OS. The computer runs well except that it cannot preform a System Restore. When I ask for the system to roll back to a previous date the software will go thru its paces. At the end of the “Restore” I am told that the System Restore procedure didn’t restore anything.
I found the following “fix” via the Internet to the problem:
Got to My Computer>Local Drive C:>Windows folder>Inf Folder. Find SR.INF, right click on it, and select Install.
Alternatively
open a command prompt or run from command console or from batch file this line:
%SystemRoot%\System32\rund ll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSectio n DefaultInstall 132 %SystemRoot%\inf\sr.inf
After applying the “fix” using my XP SP3 CD (slip streamed) and rebooting I was told:
rundll32.exe unable to locate components
framedyn.dll was not found
Re-installing the application may fix the problem
I can’t roll back the OS to a time before I applied the fix.
How can I resolve this problem?
Cheers!

"framedyn.dll was not found'
This is common if the file is really missing, or if the path is missing a , well, path....
start>run>cmd
set p
It will show the PATH value.
Is C:\Windows\System32\WBEM in the path?

You will be asked for your XP SP3 CD during the scan.
After the scan, restart the computer and you will be fine.
