Smart Card logon windows server 2008R2

When I try to logon to my server i get the message:

"The system could not log you on. You cannot use a smart card to log on because smart card login is not supported for your user account. Contact your system administrator to ensure that smart card logon is configured for your organization."

What can be the reason for this message?

do you have a smartcard reader connected to your laptop/server/pc?
try removing it if so

There is probably a card or something registering as a card in your reader.  Some laptops will have the reader built into the side.

If you are trying to get this to work - you need a smartcard logon certificate issued from your company's CA - contact the administrator if you need more info.  Be aware that not too many companies are set up to support smartcard logon, but the number is growing.

If you are the admin trying to set this up, let us know and I'll point you towards more info on how to get that up and running.

ASKER

The tokens work fine. I think there is a problem with the CA not accepting the certificate:

"This event indicates an attempt was made to use smartcard logon, but the KDC is unable to use the PKINIT protocol because it is missing a suitable certificate."
