Does Microsoft Have Gaming Competitions?

I have been speaking with someone re: gaming competitions, specifically Call of Duty.  He is 17 but says Microsoft pays for air travel / hotel to these conventions.  If they pay for this, does the gamer need to bring their console / equipment?

Thanks!  Actually, he is my son.  We have been communicating some after about 12 years (very nasty custody battle).  I had one person contact me once claiming to be him and things are going well.  It's not that I don't trust him, it is the mother.  Instead of calling me about 4 years ago, she sort of put him in another famly's home (think of "David" on Rosanne).  I am just doing some homework as well while I talk with him.

Do you know the site for this that shows the games, etc?  I know MS would support MVPs in some ways so it does make sense for this as well

No, definitely not an MVP.  I was just hoping there might be a website for Call of Duty gamers etc to review.
