How do I import Adobe Framemaker PDF Settings

We have replaced a users PC with a new one running windows 7 64bit pro.

When he goes to use the pdf job options as he would on his old machine (xp pro) his custom setups are not there.

I had found where the program stores these .joboptions files are on the new machine and copied the files across but i get a permissions error though he is a local admin ?

Dont know what else to try unless there is a front end way of simply importing these settings?

If you're getting a permissions error during the file copy, take ownership of the file itself. Select the .joboptions file > right-click > Properties > Security tab > Advanced button > Owner tab > click the user's name from the list where it reads: Change owner to > Apply > OK.

You should then be able to move/copy the file afterward.

Thanks for that yobri.

I have only just managed to look at this and the owner is already set to the user?

it made sense what you suggested but unfortunately it hasnt worked even after re-applying the user as the file owner and trying again.  :(

Hi Experts,

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try.

I have been doing some research online but cannot find anything that works :(

Thanks,

Steve
Are you able to perform this work from the old XP machine? Can this .joboptions file be sent via email from the XP machine, or even employ the use of a Flash drive to copy the file off of the XP machine then get it over to Win7 machine afterward?

Hi Yobri,

Thanks for your input however this hasnt worked either, It says I need permission.

The only other thing i guess might work is to hook up the hdd as a slave drive and copy the file across. That way the OS cannot get involved.

Will post results back here.

Keep us posted.

Are you in a domain? If so and you have domain admin rights, you should be able to make quick work of this by accessing this particular system via UNC path.
