Help with converting MS ACCESS to SQL database
Hello,
I am trying to convert my ACCESS 2007 database to an SQL database using the Upsizing Wizard, but I'm getting the folowing error: You can not move and link data the MS SQL server database from a disable (non-trusted)
database. If you trust the source of this database, you can enable it by using the message bar.
Unfortiunately, I have no idea how to find the message bar.
Thanks,
Victor

The message bar is normally displayed just below the ribbon, when you open a database from a non-trusted location (basically anywhere). To create a trusted location, click on the Office button (the silly round billboard at the top left), choose Access Options, then find the “Trust Centre” and click on [Trust Centre Settings], then find “Trusted Locations”...
Now, select a convenient folder on your hard drive to be designated as “trusted”. Once this is done, move your database into that location. Pfeww!
Your database is now implicitly “trusted”.
Cheers!

Also I would NOT use the built-in Upsizing Wizard. I would get the SSMA for Access from Microsoft (Click Here). It works a lot better.

I Installed it but running into some issues, any ideas what is wrong?
It's asking me to copy the licences file to a folder that does not exist in my computer:
C:\Users\victor\AppData\Ro aming\Micr osoft SQL Server Migration Assistant\a2ss-2008
After Victor there is no AppData folder.
Thanks,

No, I don't know how to switch the application to 64/32 bit mode.
Are you using SQL 2008 or 2008 R2?
On the machine with the SSMA installed, what version of Windows are you running (include the SP level, 32/623 fit etc.)?

I am using 2008 R2, with Windows 7 Home edition. How do I find out the SP level?
Click Start, Right click on Computer and then select properties. There you can see if you have the Windows 7 SP1 update.
Is Access 2007 also installed on the machines with SSMA?
Do you have the Office 2007 SP2 update installed?
See: Where is the About dialog for Office 2007 applications

ACCESS 2007 is not installed.
I have Windows 7 Home premium.
Do I need ACCESS 2007 and Windows 7 SP2 installed?
Thanks

Create a trusted location
Start Office Access 2007 (you do not need to open a database to complete these steps).
Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Access Options.
The Access Options dialog box appears.
In the left pane of the dialog box, click Trust Center, and then click Trust Center Settings in the right pane.
The Trust Center dialog box appears.
In the left pane, click Trusted Locations.
Click Add new location.
The Microsoft Office Trusted Location dialog box appears.
In the Path box, type the file path and folder name of the location that you want to set as a trusted source, or click Browse to locate a folder. By default, the folder must reside on a local drive.
Note If you want to allow trusted network locations, in the Trust Center dialog box, click Allow Trusted Locations on my network (not recommended).
Click OK to close all dialog boxes.
