Raid 5 Array on HP MSA Storage Server

We have a HP MSA 60 attached to a HP DL320 Server.   Six 1TB hard drives are in the MSA 60 and configured using Raid 5 and GPT.   This leaves 4.5 TB of storage after the Raid 5.    The Array is configured and the drive initialized, but when we go to create a new partition on the available space, it will only create as a primary partition.  The option for extended (which we would not use) and logical (we would like to use) are grayed out.   Why will it only allow us to create the partition as a primary?   Is this ok since the array is on the MSA 60 and not the DL320 server which has the OS?
