Good and free alternative for GNU Mailman
Hi,
My hosting provider has decided to remove/deactivate the mailing list functionality from his servers/cPanel.
Because according to them it is too old and has negative effects on their servers.
That functionality was provided by means of GNU Mailman.
Can somebody provide me a good and free alternative that I can setup myself on my part of the server?
Please don't provide me with links you just found by Googling. I'm able to do that myself.
I'm looking for answers based on experience with the software.
One particular functionality that is a must is that all members of the mailinglist (and only they!) should be able to mail to all other members just by sending their mail to a certain e-mailaddress of my domain. Most of the alternatives I find are focused on the sending of mail(ing)s to all members by the website administrator from within the software.
Note: I'm running Joomla as my CMS
Thanks in advance for trying to help.

If you are looking for subscriptions functionality then PHPList is a good option.
If you want the restricted users sending mails to group of email id then use forwarder option in cpanel and use userlevel filtering option in cpanel itself.

I do (as said in the initial question)
>>Β then use forwarder option in cpanel and use userlevel filtering option in cpanel itself.
I already thought about that, but that seems quite work intensive to me (having 100 users)
1. Setup a forwarder: if mailed to the address mylist@mydomain.com forward it to <mailaddress of memberX> (for x=1 to 100)
2. Setup a rule: if from equals <mailaddress of memberX> then ... yeah then what action should be taken? (for x=1 to 100)
So when a member is added/removed, I have to add/remove a forwarder and a rule.
Am I right?
Currently I'm considering installing Minimalist V2 (http://www.mml.org.ua/)

At last I'm using
But the problem I have with this, is that the rule is NOT triggered in case of an e-mail sent from a non-member address with mylist@mydomain.com in BCC
It works for mylist@mydomain.com in the To-field or CC-field, but not for the BCC-field.
Any help appreciated.
100 forwarders: if mailed to the address mylist@mydomain.com forward it to <mailaddress of memberX> (for x=1 to 100)
A rule to avoid that mails sent to the list by non-members are forwarded:
if "Any recipient" equals mylist@mydomain.com AND
if "from" does not contain <mailaddress of member1> AND
if "from" does not contain <mailaddress of member2> AND
...
if "from" does not contain <mailaddress of member100>
Fail with message "You're not allowed to mail to the list"

For the first condition of the rule I also tried
if "Any header" equals mylist@mydomain.com
No success neither.
It looks like the BCC-field is not seen/controled

I solved my problem by moving to another hosting provider that still does use MailMan.

An email client, email reader or more formally mail user agent (MUA) is a computer program used to access and manage a user's email. A web application that provides message management, composition, and reception functions is sometimes also considered an email client, but more commonly referred to as webmail.
