Problem with Connecting to Active Directory via LDAP
I am currently trying to setup a piece of software called Moodle. In a nutshell it is a learning content management system similar to Blackboard. We are trying to import users into the system via LDAP and we have not been successful so far. We are currently getting the following error: LDAP-module cannot connect to any servers: Server: 'SERVERNAME', Connection: 'Resource id #49', Bind result: ''. When it gives the error it gives the following link as a reference to the problem: http://docs.moodle.org/20/en/error/auth_ldap/auth_ldap_noconnect_all .
We are thinking that it is a problem with the Binding User.
We are currently running Windows 2003 with Apache 2.2.19 with PHP 5.3.5. LDAP is running on PHP. If need be we can switch our Active Directory server over to a 2008 machine. We have also purchased Softerra LDAP Admin to help us resolve this problem and everything seems to be connecting and working in the software.

are the moodle server and the DC the same physical server or two different boxes? are they on the same site/subnet?
is the firewall on the DC active?
have you tried using the domain admin account for ldap authorisation, just as a test to check if the user account is the issue?

They are on two seperate boxes but on the same subnet. Also we have tried using the main admin account.
If you have tried the main admin account then its not a user account issue. that account has access to everything!
are the boxes on the same switch/vlan or is there a router/firewall between them?
is the firewall enabled on either server?

They are on the same switch and VLAN. They are actually sitting right next to each other.

We actually ended up buying this tool. It turns out that software that we are connecting to the LDAP requires it to be entered in very specifically. This LDAP Administrator help tremendously.
