To start- I am new to iSCSI and Openfiler so please bare with me...
So I have a Openfiler iSCSI server set up which is used as a backup for files. I have a Windows 2003 Standard server which is mapped to the iScsi box. I have a script that copies all files from a local drive to the iscsi box. It works well. My question is, if that 2003 server was to fail, how would I use another server to map to the iscsi box and have the backup files available? The local drive on the 2003 box is 3TB. I have tried to use the Microsoft iSCSI initiator on another server and map to the iscsi box but all that shows up in the disk management is 16MB partition. Any advice or step by steps on how to accomplish this?
Cool. A fellow Lynch!! yes that is why. Only one device can use an iSCSI Target at a time (Microsoft and VMware work their magic so that multiple devices can use shared storage for the movement of virtual machines) but as a standard rule of thumb, yup only one.
