DNS and DC

Can someone confirm the proper DNS configuration on ad domain controllers?
Should they point to themselves as primary and to another one as secondary or does it matter?

Thanks,

Yes, they should ALWAYS point to themselves.  This is very important.  Use 127.0.0.1 as the primary DNS server.

josika,  where are you getting your information that they should always point to 127.0.0.1 as primary?  There is no hard rule there.

I was always taught and have always implemented that.  In reading a few articles (including the one you posted), it appears that there is mixed opinions on the subject.  Never realized there was so much turmoil on the subject.

I've had issues with DNS server not pointing to themselves and not updating records properly before though.
