Temporary disable access to email
Friday polotics but here we go....
I may need to temporarily disable the access for a user to his email whilst an investigation is going on. However when I try to disable it in Exchange 2010 it want to remove their access & mark for removal which is not what I want. Is the easiest way to edit their full access permision & takeaway thei userid & self acces? or is there another way?

Disable the account in AD
Disable the mailbox.
Disable-Mailbox john@contoso.com
Connect the mailbox to a different user account to investigate
Connect-Mailbox -Database "Mailbox Database" -Identity john@contoso.com -user investigation@contoson.com
Disable-Mailbox john@contoso.com

with my method, the user still has access to his user account. BillBondo's would prevent all access.

open mailbox properties--> mail feature and disable what do you want there... also go to delivery options and configure settings for sending and receiving options.
