macbook version 10.6.7 loses wireless connection

Once the connection is lost, it appears that the device is stalled and the system has to be powercycled in order reestablish the wifi connection.

The end user refuses to perform a system cleanup (ie., onyx).

Other than a hardware issue, does anyone have some suggestions?
The connection is stable for about 4 hours after power cycle before dropping again.

Wifi router is OK.  Another macbook connects successfully and doesn't drop connections.

Many Thanks
