im part of an organization that is looking into google earth.<br />
can google earth do layers like gis. &nbsp;and more importantly<br />
can it do layers accurately. &nbsp;like within a foot...<br />
is data importable to google earth.<br />
are their other organizations that have had success using google earth.<br />
i guess since we are starting from scratch im curious as to which is the better route.<br />
i dont want to miss the bus on google earth

google earth versus gis

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based global navigation satellite system (GNSS) that provides reliable location and time information in all weather and at all times and anywhere on or near the Earth when and where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. A geographic information system (GIS) or geospatial information system is any system that captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that are linked to location(s). In the simplest terms, GIS is the merging of cartography, statistical analysis, and database technology.

GIS/GPS Programming

Chrome OS is an operating system based on the Linux kernel and designed to work with web applications and installed applications. Initially, Chrome OS was almost a pure web thin client operating system, with only a handful of "native" applications, but Google gradually began encouraging developers to create "packaged applications", some of which can work offline. App Runtime for Chrome (beta) enables Android applications to run on Chrome OS. Chrome OS is built upon the open source project called Chromium OS which, unlike Chrome OS, can be compiled from the downloaded source code; Chrome OS is the commercial version installed on specific hardware.
